Auditor-General Elected First Vice Chair of AFROSAI

The Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu held virtual engagement meetings with Principal Secretaries, CEOs of State Corporations and Heads of Commissions and Independent Offices to discuss audit matters.
The Meetings were aimed at forging a better working relationship that would lead to prudent management of public resources, for the benefit of the Kenyan people.
Ms Gathungu took the clients through the audit process and listened to their contributions during feedback sessions. The meetings also focused on how the Office of the Auditor-General can provide improved and quality audit services to its clients.
“As your audit service provider, we are committed, ready and willing to closely work together with you and your staff in developing professional working relationships”, the Auditor-General said.
Ms. Gathungu similarly called on the entitites to ensure that their financial statements and books of accounts are recorded in line with the requirements and templates from the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board.
The Head of Public Service Dr. Joseph Kinyua, lauded the Office of the Auditor-General for its critical role in the accountability process.
Dr. Kinyua said that the engagement meetings between the various stakeholders and the Auditor-General was timely and significant.
On their part, the stakeholders appreciated the Auditor-General for the proactive action in organising for the engagement meetings.
They expressed need for joint trainings of all accounting officers as well as more engagement and interactive forums with OAG.
